We have spent time developing a sustainable plan for the future where the children under our care and also the children of the community receive equal chances. There are multiple places for this plan but what I want to relay in this blog are the three things that we want to focus on first: education, domesticity and health.
Education:

If you donate to us, we will use the money for one of our three current focus points. The first is education. In order for everyone to have the same chances, everyone should be able to follow an education through primary school and secondary (high)school. Since the government made secondary education free a few years ago, the dropout rates have decreased, although not all students go to high school. Though the boarding fee and tuition fee for students up to SHS is free now, not all things about education are free. The school presents a list of items the children need (a certain amount of pens and pencils, mathematic sets, exercise books and notebooks etc.), on top of that we need to pay for the seamstress or tailor to make their school uniform. Those of the children who school further away (usually those that are in high school) have to go to a boarding school. At these boarding schools they receive free meals, but they need a few foodstuffs for when they get hungry, like biscuits or gari. The children also need to buy for themselves a mattress, pillow and case, sheets, toiletries and a trunk. Those things are quite expensive, especially mattresses, The new schoolyear starts this February, so any donation you make now (January) will be an investment into sending these children to school. We can current send 10% of these children to school this year 2023, please help us to send them all to school.
Domesticity:

Domesticity is a broad concept. It is important for a child to feel home somewhere. To feel loved, surrounded by loved ones, free to blossom and yet protected and raised into a confident, independent and respectful young man or woman. Some of the children stay in the community with caretakers at night but wander the streets during the day. Some of the aims we have within this focus point is building houses on our land so that all the children can live together in our home. Another aspect is the quality of this home. We need a freezer to be able to store food, we need new solar panels for electricity and we need a new well and polytank to ensure water fit for drinking, cooking and washing. Then we need the small things, like buckets for washing and bathing and extra chairs to sit on. We also have a good opportunity to farm on the land and provide for our own food, but we need seeds to do that.
Health:

We take care of over 400 children and the elderly in the community, this means there are a lot of medical bills to. We have provided wheelchairs for people who cannot walk and we try to provide hearing aids for those who cannot hear. We also take care of people who are suffering with HIV and if any of the children get malaria or another illness, they need medication or treatment. We need to be able to pay their medical bills and preferably save up a little for unforeseen emergencies. We also have a bright boy in our midst who is deaf in both ears from birth and we would like to give him hearing aids so that he can hear. It would be ideal if we could provide more walking-aids and wheelchairs to those people who struggle to walk.
